Listing and Ranking Sites
Listing Sites
Webcomic listing sites are large directories that let you list your webcomic with them for free.
The Webcomic List - A directory of over 11,000 webcomics. Users can be notified when their favorite comics are updated. Allows for the posting of sample comics and comments. It is also worth your while to get involved in their forums.
Belfry Webcomic List - A large list of comics arranged by how often they update.
Online Comics - A directory of comics that calls itself "the Yahoo! of webcomics." Listing a comic requires you register for their site and put a return link on your site.
Kill Boredom - A large list that lets other users rate your comic. You must register to submit your comic.
Giant in the Playground - The first topic of the "Webcomics" forum has a large list of comics to which you can add yourself. You can also plug your comic in the same forum.
Digital Strip - A blog and podcast about comics with a comic list.
Comic Nation - Register to list your site.
Comic Alert - Provides RSS feeds and email updates to comic readers.
WebcomicZ - A webcomic listing and tracking site. Register to submit a webcomic.
Ranking Sites
Webcomics on ranking sites are ordered by how many people vote for them. People vote for you comic by clicking a link button that you place on your website.
To get visitors to vote for you comic, it's common to offer voter incentives - extra comics, sketches, and bonus material that readers can view after they have voted. You can use thumbnails of these bonus features as voting link buttons, since the link buttons they provide are usually pretty ugly.
